If you have recently upgraded to Windows 10 most of your original shortcuts will be as you left them either on the Desktop or on the Taskbar.
If you want to add new ones the old Windows 7 way is gone.
Basically to add a shortcut to the desktop is now called ‘Make a Link’ to do this you have to find your program in the Start>All Apps alphabetical listing panel and then drag the icon of the program to the desktop and when offered, click ‘Make a link’ or sometimes just ‘Link’
To do the same on the Task bar just RIGHT click any program icon in the same list to select ‘Pin to Taskbar’ you can then drag it along to the position you prefer.
