For those who loved to play the built in games in Windows 7 and lamented their loss in Windows 8 there is good news.

You can restore these games by running a small free setup program. This will put back the games such as Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, Chess Masters, Mahjong, Minesweeper etc.
Even better good news is that this also works in Windows 10 which has removed the old style games and insists on running the Xbox app and then stuffing the games full of adverts unless you pay to remove them.
Here’s how to do it if you have either Windows 8 or 10. Download the file (it’s quite large so be patient) from the site here:  http://winaero.com/download.php?view.1836 and look for the final link: ‘Download Windows 7 games for Windows 10′
(if this is removed at any point contact me for the file)
Click the ‘download through your browser’ option below. Save this file and run the Win7GamesForWin10-Setup.exe  to restore your games.
The company also offer some other games free Windows 10 shown here: http://winaero.com/blog/40-free-store-games-for-windows-8-including-new-and-classic-ones/
Enjoy.
